Layout

113 emblems, all illustrated with woodcuts, possibly designed by Mercure Jollat, which with very minor exceptions, are used in all Wechel's editions. This first Wechel edition establishes the pattern for his Latin-only editions: the title appears above the woodcut, and is followed by the text; all but four emblems are printed each within a single page. Text in 'Aldine' italic, 84mm for 20 lines.
